  • Great Tahoe car with pep for mountain driving

I commute back and forth from Reno to Tahoe City all year long. This car has been a dream to drive up and down Mt Rose on curvy fun roads. Surprising amount of room with four doors.
  • Expensive Price for Fun Drive

I have had this car since it was a year old. The day the warranty ran out every other month something needed fixed. I have contacted Mini international knows there is an issue with the rear control arms. They pull the wheel camber out of place so the top of your tire tilts inward. It eats tires like you drink water. Mini has not recognized the issues with the rear control arms. The computer that runs the car is extremely fussy. When its in top shape and running, they are fun to drive. Very responsive to handling and have some pick up in Sport monde. I would never recommend this car to anyone. It has so many issues that arise after 2-3 yrs it is not financially worth owning. Unless you love your dealership because you will see them frequently. Odd cup holders that block all the window and sport buttons. Lighted track that runs down the middle of the car which makes the rear seat only capable of seating 2 smaller folks. Fairly stiff shocks seats are odd when adjusting. Great heater though in the seats. Its not super on gas mileage and I use full synthetic since I have owned and maintain it very well.It eats 1-2 quarts of oil between every change. The all wheel drive isnt bad in snow, forget ice, rain and curves. It wheel hops at every crack, crevice and hole. Very rough ride. A LOT better value in the market today for an all wheel drive option small car. Goodluck! Please feel free if you can to contact me. I can give you list of things that have been fixed. Just spent 1600 a week ago and that was the second 1600 in 2018. Just spent 2100 in December in repairs-CONSTANT!
  • Great handling and styling. Reliable.

My MINI Countryman has been reliable and no issues for the warranty period. After 55K miles, an oil leak from the overhead gasket appeared and the starter failed. Never had an issue with the run-flat tires. Wore them out at 40K, and replaced with standard tires — no problem driving in the New York City and surrounding metropolitan area. The MINI handles great and is fun to drive. The newer models have upgraded their seats so the ride is more comfortable than my standard package version. Coming from a luxury SUV to the MINI took a lot of adjusting. I like the gas mileage on the MINI: If I don’t drive aggressively and allow the car to brake on it’s own by predicting turns and stops then the mileage comes close to 45 mpg. Wish they would find room for a spare tire. Engine vibrates during idle. If you open the hood when it’s idling, it looks like they haven’t figured out how to mount the engine right. Maybe it’s the sideways mount and the frame just doesn’t have the right structure to prevent so much jiggling. Doesn’t seem right. This car is great with a sunroof. Without it, you might feel claustrophobic. Depending on the model, the dashboard and controls will range very widely. Some interiors are fun, exciting and intuitive. While others beer towards being gimmicky. In general for so many cars out there, too much plastic and carbon. I would love to see a MINI with more natural materials: more metal, wood and leather. Especially for the levers, knobs and controls. Road noise on newer and S-models is very low. For my 2014 Mini Countryman the road nice is a little higher than expected. Surrounding car stereos are very audible with my windows closed. The Pinkerton glass collects water spots and I’ve never been able to remove them. I never noticed water spots until owning a MINI. Looks terrible compared to VW and LandRover glass in the cars I had prior to the MINI.
